The vast majority of caprolactam is used in the production of polycaprolactam, with about 90% used in the production of synthetic fibers, namely Capron, and 10% used in plastics, such as gears, bearings, pipes, medical devices, electrical and insulation materials. It is also used in coatings, plastic agents, and in small amounts for the synthesis of lysine. The main uses are for the production of caprolactam resin, fibers, and synthetic leather, as well as for pharmaceutical raw materials, polymer solvents, the manufacture of polyamide synthetic fibers, and gas chromatography stationary liquids.
